Our pledge

Inhabit Realty fully supports and complies with the federal Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended) and the Florida Fair Housing Act (Chapter 760, Part II, Florida Statutes). It is illegal — and contrary to our values — to discriminate in the sale, rental, financing, or advertising of housing.

Federal protected classes

Under federal law, you may not be discriminated against in housing on the basis of:

• Race
• Color
• National origin
• Religion
• Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation, per HUD interpretive guidance)
• Familial status (presence of children under 18)
• Disability

Florida protected classes

Florida law adds additional protections beyond the federal categories. In addition to those listed above, Florida law prohibits discrimination on the basis of pregnancy and any other category protected by Chapter 760 of the Florida Statutes.

What this means in practice

• We do not steer clients toward or away from neighborhoods on the basis of any protected class.
• We do not accept listings with discriminatory restrictions or instructions.
• Our marketing language is reviewed for compliance with HUD advertising guidelines.
• We provide reasonable accommodations to clients with disabilities — accessible meeting locations, large-print documents, remote signing, and more.
• Every Inhabit agent completes annual fair housing training.

If you believe you've been discriminated against

You can file a complaint with any of the following:

• U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) — file a complaint online or call 1-800-669-9777.
• Florida Commission on Human Relations — fchr.myflorida.com or call 1-850-488-7082.
• Florida Real Estate Commission (DBPR) — for complaints involving licensed brokers or sales associates.
